San Diego’s Oldest Women’s Chorus Is Now San Diego’s Newest Women’s Chorus, Choral Club of San Diego

October 9, 2020

SAN DIEGO — San Diego’s oldest women’s chorus and service group is now San Diego’s newest women’s chorus and public service group, Choral Club of San Diego.

The San Diego Choral Club was formed in 1939 by a group of community-minded women interested in music and service.  The group was a major social- and service-oriented choir, performing in various venues, and supporting promising young vocal students with scholarship awards.

Choral Club of San Diego (CCSD) was formed in 2012 in order to carry on the musical and service traditions of San Diego Choral Club. The organization is a California public benefit corporation dedicated to promoting public appreciation of choral and vocal music. Choral Club of San Diego provides an annual scholarship for vocal performance students. In addition to supporting promising vocal students, we give back to the community by bringing music to the elderly and seeking collaborations with other nonprofit organizations which contribute to the San Diego community.

Choral Club of San Diego will hold performances during its fall/holiday season from October through December.  The Season culminates with a final public concert on Saturday, December 15th at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1370 Euclid Avenue, San Diego, CA.

Choral Club of San Diego will perform publicly October 20 in conjunction with the San Diego Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) during its annual Out of the Darkness 5K Walk to Prevent Suicide.  CCSD will perform during the event closing ceremonies at the Embarcadero Marina Park North in downtown San Diego.
